Idyllwild Reflections
As I’m writing this I’m sitting in a café in Idyllwild, California with my Sweet Haylee enjoying some much appreciated R & R. We came up for the weekend to camp out under the stars and the 120 foot pine trees, and to enjoy each other’s company. This is the breath of fresh air in between a lot of action in both our worlds. I just got done with a few great art events and am looking forward to a strong wedding season with Live Wedding Art that’s building by the day (check out @liveweddingart on Insta and FB). Haylee is getting ready to go cook for a healing retreat called Love Your Brain and is getting close to launching her holistic nutritional coaching campaign. Great stuff happening and about to happen.
My first art event from last month was the Avocado Festival in Fallbrook, CA. This is a street fair on avocado steroids in my current hometown where the avocados instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I created an 18 x 4 foot mural on canvas stretched on a frame I built that hung on the back walls of the Brandon Gallery’s two 10 x 10 tents. The day was awesome. The mural turned out great. It’s going to be auctioned off benefiting the Brandon Gallery and the Fallbrook Food Pantry. I’m really happy to be in such good company and hopefully it brings in a good amount to help everyone involved.
The second event was the RAW Artists Showcase at the House of Blues in Downtown San Diego, CA. This was really fun. The venue was amazing, and the event was a blast. There were 25 or so artists showing their work, musical performances, and a few different performance art experiences. It was really great because my mom and her best friend were visiting and got to be there for it. Another highlight was my friend and videographer Josh McMurtrie put together a little video of the night. It turned out really well. Check it out on my @tgfineart Instagram. I was stoked to see how it turned out. Another standout that was awesome was that 20 or so of my local friends came out to support, so it was really great to have everyone around.
The last event was the Mission Federal Artwalk in Little Italy, San Diego, CA. This was the biggest art fair I’ve ever been a part of. They shut down the whole town and displayed over 350 artists spread out over 17 blocks. It was great showing my work to so many new people and getting to interact with so many new perspectives. I learned a ton and have a new understanding of how the whole process works. The event was a total success and I can’t wait for next year.
