The Aviator – This painting is a recent creation, painted in February of 2022. This piece is an example of my recent processes that I’ve been working with, developing layers upon layers, and incorporating an image on top. This style has been a development that has been building through my digital work on the Ipad and also on my murals and paintings on canvas. All the pieces of my artistic puzzle are blending together here.
In terms of the imagery, I’ve been honing in on the concept of the portrait. It works beautifully because there’s so much that can be done with it, it’s classic, and contemporary at the same time, and so much can be said with just a look. Another element I love about portraiture is that we all connect with them in our own ways, and draw our own experience from them. Between the variations in the viewer and the different elements in the artwork, the combination can create a really dynamic art experience.
The Fighter – This piece is an honoring of the fighter in all of us. We all face challenges that oftentimes feel insurmountable. But the spirit of the fighter is in all of us if we choose to call upon it. This spirit is about not backing down, standing for what you believe is right, and never giving up.
The Diver – For me, this piece is honoring the explorer, the inventor, the creative, the scientist, the philosopher, and more. Life is an experiment, much like this painting. We’re all just here on this planet attempting, succeeding, failing, learning, and repeating. Life is about asking questions.
